Conference Details

The conference is from Sunday, 27 November to Wednesday, 30 November 2016.

  • Sunday, 27 November – Arrival, Hotel Check-in – Conference is NOT in session
  • Monday, 28 November – Wednesday, 29 November = Main Conference; ALL REGISTERED PERSONS can attend.
  • Thursday, 30 November – Kuala Lumpur City Tour

 Special Delegates’ Meeting (Invitation Only)

The conference will be held at the Hotel Istana in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Persons attending the conference can stay at the Hotel Istana or any of the nearby hotels. The rate for the Hotel Istana is 100 USD per night. Up to 2 people may stay in one room at a time. Reservations can be made by either contacting the hotel directly through the website www.hotelistana.com.my or by contacting conference organizers via e-mail at myicdm2016@gmail.com.

There are several hotels near the Hotel Istana. Participants are welcome to choose where they would like to stay. Each participant is responsible for reserving and paying for their own hotel rooms. The cost of hotel rooms is NOT included in the registration fee.

Participants wishing to have a language other than those listed above must provide their own translators/interpreters.

The conference is open to all interested persons over the age of eighteen (18) years of age. This includes:

  • Deaf Muslims from all around the world
  • parents of Deaf children
  • educators of Deaf students
  • supporters/advocates of Deaf Muslims
  • government officials
  • all other interested people

For liability reasons, the conference does NOT allow participants under the age of 18. Children are not allowed to attend the conference. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Yes! All individuals interested in attending the Second International Conference of Deaf Muslims are welcome. Membership to a Deaf organization is not required!

Yes! It is not a requirement of the conference that participants be Muslim. We welcome all individuals who support Deaf Muslims and their rights, regardless of religion, race, or nationality. However, we do expect all participants to be respectful of Islamic etiquette and Malaysian law during their visit to Malaysia for the conference.

The cost for registration is $150 USD for developed nations and $100 USD for developing nations.

In order to complete your registration, you must go to http://malaysia2016.globaldeafmuslim.org/registration/ and do ALL of the following steps:

  1. complete the registration form, available in English and Arabic, and send to ICDM@globaldeafmuslim.org
  2. provide a copy of your passport, send to ICDM@globaldeafmuslim.org
  3. complete registration fee payment through the method of your choice (bank transfer, credit card, money wire, or PayPal)

There is NO ON-SITE PAYMENT OPTIONS. Payment must be paid in full before registration is complete! Once all three steps have been completed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and your entrance ticket.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN MY REGISTRATION?

Registration for the conference includes:

  • 2-day admission to the main conference session (28-29 November),
  • meals while the conference is in session,
  • program booklet and materials,
  • Kuala Lumpur city tour (30 November)

Registration does NOT include the cost of hotels or flights.

Unfortunately at this time there are no funds available to sponsor individuals to attend ICDM 2016. However, we can provide you with an official letter of sponsorship request for you and/or your organization that can be used by you to solicit local donations from your community or government. If you would like for us to provide this letter, please send a request to ICDM@globaldeafmuslim.org with the subject line: “Donation Letter Request”. Please include your name and the name of the organization, if applicable.

Traveling to Malaysia

NO. It is the responsibility of each participant to arrange for their own visa. We can provide a support letter as needed for visas upon request. Send an e-mail to ICDM@globaldeafmuslim.org with the subject line “VISA Support Letter Request”.

Proof of vaccination against Yellow Fever, referred to as a “ Yellow Fever Certificate” or an “International Certificate of Vaccination” is required for those traveling from the following nations:

For those traveling from other nations not listed above, a Yellow Fever certificate is NOT required.
